Gwennie & Jacob’s Spring Wedding at West Borough Church & Meade Hall, Crown and Cushion
Gwennie and Jacob’s wedding in Guildford was the perfect example of a relaxed, joy-filled celebration with subtle religious undertones, beautiful weather, and meaningful details. With their ceremony at West Borough Church and reception at Meade Hall, Crown and Cushion, the day felt effortlessly personal and completely focused on love, laughter, and connection.
A Thoughtful Ceremony at West Borough Church
The day began at the historic West Borough Church in Guildford—a beautiful and welcoming space that set the tone perfectly. The ceremony struck a balance between faith and celebration, with gentle religious elements woven through in a way that felt natural and deeply personal. Bright sunlight poured through the church windows, illuminating every moment from their first look at the aisle to their heartfelt vows.
As a documentary wedding photographer, I love being able to step back and let the emotions unfold naturally. This was one of those ceremonies where you could feel the connection not just between the couple, but within the room. The glances, the subtle squeezes of the hand—it was real and moving, and such a joy to capture.
A Bright Day with Relaxed Portraits
After the ceremony, we stepped outside into glorious spring sunshine. The weather was bright but not too hot—ideal for capturing some relaxed post-ceremony portraits outside the church. With their guests mingling and enjoying the buzz, Gwennie and Jacob had a few quiet moments to themselves, which always makes for some of the best images.
From Guildford, we made our way to the reception at Meade Hall, part of the Crown and Cushion. Nestled in the countryside, Meade Hall offers a wonderfully rustic space with plenty of character—exposed beams, stone walls, and an atmosphere that feels cosy and celebratory all at once.
A Laid-Back Reception at Meade Hall
Gwennie and Jacob’s reception was everything a summer celebration should be: relaxed, warm, and full of laughter. Their friends and family spread out across the grounds, enjoying drinks, catching up, and sharing stories. The venue’s charm really added to the whole feel of the day—unpretentious, welcoming, and full of little nooks perfect for candid guest photos.
Later in the afternoon, we made use of the nearby field just by Meade Hall for some golden hour portraits. The light was absolutely dreamy, with soft golden tones gently backlighting the couple. With the countryside around them, Gwennie and Jacob just clicked—their ease with each other came through in every frame, and these sunset shots ended up being some of the most stunning from the day.
Celebration and Connection
As the evening rolled in, the atmosphere became even more relaxed. Guests enjoyed a laid-back evening full of connection, dancing, and celebration. While some chatted by the bar, others were straight onto the dance floor, and the whole evening unfolded at its own perfect pace. There was no stress, no pressure—just a day filled with genuine moments and real joy.
A Wedding Day That Reflected Them Completely
Gwennie and Jacob’s wedding was a true reflection of who they are as a couple. There were no over-the-top details or rigid schedules—just a warm, thoughtful ceremony and a relaxed reception that let everyone be themselves. For couples considering a wedding in Guildford, the combination of West Borough Church and Meade Hall, Crown and Cushion offers a wonderful mix of traditional beauty and rustic charm.
