Reflecting on an Incredible 2024

As 2024 comes to a close, it’s time to take a moment to reflect on the incredible year we’ve had at Rhys Murray Photography. This year has been filled with unforgettable love stories, stunning venues, and countless moments of joy, laughter, and connection. From dreamy engagement shoots to breathtaking weddings, 2024 has been a testament to the beauty of love and the privilege of capturing it.

A Year of Love and Celebration

This year brought an incredible variety of weddings and engagement shoots, each one as unique as the couples at the heart of them. From rustic barns to grand city venues, no two celebrations were the same, and each told a story that was deeply personal.

In Oxford, we celebrated Gavin and Vicky’s wedding at the Dexter Room of the Oxford Ceremony Rooms. Their day was a beautiful mix of tradition and modernity, with family and friends tuning in from Hong Kong to share in their special moments. The charm of Worcester College and University Parks added a timeless backdrop to their portraits.

We also ventured to The Isis Farmhouse, where Georgie and Olly’s wedding day featured heartfelt vows, a guitar performance, and a champagne reception by the lake. Their love shone brightly during their portraits at Iffley Lock, and the live band ensured the evening was filled with energy and joy.

Engagements Full of Promise

Engagement sessions in 2024 provided the perfect opportunity to capture couples in their element, sharing intimate and joyful moments. Megan and Dan’s engagement shoot at Stafford Castle showcased their easy connection as we wandered the grounds and woodlands, hoping for a sunset that remained hidden by the clouds. Despite this, the session was filled with laughter and excitement for their upcoming wedding day.

Similarly, Kayleigh and Callum’s engagement shoot at Lickey Hills was a testament to their love and the fun they share together. Their spaniels added energy and charm, running through the woods as the couple stole glances and shared quiet laughs.

These sessions are always a highlight of the year, as they allow me to connect with couples and create memories before the whirlwind of the wedding day begins.

Highlights from Stunning Venues

This year took us to some incredible venues that provided breathtaking backdrops for love stories. At Wootton Park, Kayleigh and Callum’s wedding featured an outdoor ceremony by the lake, stunning portraits in the rowing boat, and a perfectly choreographed first dance to Luke Combs.

The Thomas Robinson Building hosted Megan and Daniel’s autumnal wedding, where Gothic architecture framed their bubble-filled exit and added drama to their portraits. Later, they celebrated at Wednesfield Conservative Club with dancing and live music, rounding off a perfect day.

And who could forget Katie and Richard’s Wolverhampton wedding? Their love of Wolverhampton Wanderers shone through as we took portraits at Molineux Stadium, making use of the tunnel and pitch to create unique and meaningful images.

Moments to Treasure

While every wedding has its standout moments, it’s often the small, unexpected touches that resonate the most. Katie and Richard’s three pugs joining their reception for photos brought so much joy, while Gavin and Vicky’s family live-streaming their wedding to relatives in Hong Kong was a touching reminder of the power of love to bridge distances.

Whether it was a couple dancing into the night under sparklers or a confetti shot filled with laughter and happiness, these moments were a privilege to capture and are a reminder of why I do what I do.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As 2024 draws to a close, I’m filled with gratitude for the couples who trusted me to document their special days and the incredible venues that provided the settings for their stories. Each wedding and engagement shoot added to a year full of creativity, emotion, and artistry.

2025 is already shaping up to be an amazing year, with bookings filling up and more love stories waiting to be told. I can’t wait to meet new couples, explore new venues, and continue creating timeless images that capture the essence of love.

To everyone who has been a part of Rhys Murray Photography’s journey this year—thank you. Your trust, kindness, and enthusiasm mean the world to me, and I’m so excited for what’s to come.

Here’s to a fantastic 2025 filled with even more unforgettable moments!
